and Cobb Parkway and ends up somewhere near Cumberland Parkway. It starts right near the intersection of Paces Mill Rd. I think my dog and I have spent more time here than we have in the apartment. I just moved into an apartment that sits right above this trail. Come on, use your common sense and take my advice.īring your bike, dog, running shoes, fly rod, and figure eight. It didn’t take a doctor to tell she needed to be more careful, but the doctor in our party remarked that her knees will need replacement in no time. I winced because I saw her knees vibrating with the effort to absorb the impact and I have to say, her run looked pretty stupid too. Speaking of which, I saw this girl who had pretty severe genuvalgus, running unprotected (without knee supports, etc), and pounding away at the concrete. As a runner, I prefer the Chattahoochee because the gravel and dirt won’t kill me knees as much as concrete will. Your laziness and stupidity infuriates me and if I catch you there will be hell to pay, consequences be damned. I’m talking about hundreds of Miller Lite cans, plastics, your freaking pool toys and floats, cardboard papers, and junk littered everywhere in the parking lot and floating.

#ROTTENWOOD CREEK TRAIL MARIETTA FULL#
–no $ 3 parking fees, but has a smaller parking area (maybe 15 cars max, never full though) –not many people, if you like your jogs/walks peaceful but –could– be more potentially dangerous for that exact reason –close to I- 285 for a big chunk of the trail –all concrete Chattahoochee -$ 3 per parking or $ 25 year round pass parking fee –lots of people and dogs, safe –riverside jogging/walking –close to kayaking/canoeing entrance –nature trails (but…be careful of where you’re running, and into what) − 1÷ 3 gravel, 1⁄ 3 dirt, 1⁄ 3 compact dirt Advice: Be wary of your surroundings, take care of your joints, make sure your shoes are right for you, and stay hydrated. To be honest, both trails are very good, but each has its pros and cons. It doesn’t freak me out (just be wary and sidestep, sheesh), but a few members of my party are really uncool with it. #Yelp 365 - 176⁄ 365Įvery Saturday and Sunday for the past two years I have ran at the Chattahoochee– but recently decided to switch temporarily to Rottenwood after a friend got stung and had some sort of necrosis going on (you can still see a fist-sized purple bruise now) and after I almost got bit by a copperhead three times, amongst other miscellaneous snakes. Most of the other folks we saw were walking with their dogs, though there were a few other runners. It’s not a problem if you’re going the whole distance, but if you’re training and timing yourself, or trying to motivate yourself to go another quarter mile up the hill, it’s less than ideal. Additionally, these markers are not spaced at regular intervals. They have the mileage noted at the bottom, but it is often obscured by vegetation. There are signs along the way talking about the trail, reminding people to stay on the right unless passing, etc. The main thing that is lacking in my opinion is the mileage markers. It’s a lovely trail, pretty well maintained (we saw it the day after quite a storm, so it was understandably littered with lots of leaves and sticks), with some great views of the river and the Cobb Performing Arts Center. 5 miles, just to the bridge that passes under I- 285. These hills are definitely challenging and would prepare you for any race around Atlanta. And when I say increases, it gets quite steep. It becomes concrete once the elevation increases. The trail is mostly asphalt in the low-lying portion that starts at Cobb Pkwy. There’s also restrooms, a ramp down to the water, and a couple of overlooks.

We actually started at the parking lot that’s at 4005 Cobb Pkwy, where there is ample parking and multiple fee-payment boxes, $ 3 a visit or $ 25 for annual pas that includes the other CNRA areas.

After having read about this trail in the other reviews, I looked it up for a specific address.
